Hey there, lovely souls! I'm Katie Joy, the Founder of The Global Butterfly and host of the "Awaken with Love and Rise with Pure Joy" podcast. Today, I'm thrilled to share my six-month body goal review and reveal the one best decision that has made all the difference in my journey. I hope this inspires you to reflect on your own goals and take actionable steps towards your dreams.
Reflect, Review, Renew: The Process
I absolutely love setting big dreams and goals, but just as importantly, I believe in regularly reviewing them. I follow a process I call Reflect, Review, Renew every three and six months. Six months ago, I set a goal to get my body back into its best shape, aiming to be fit, lean, flexible, strong, healthy, and full of vitality. I wanted to fit comfortably into a size 8 to 10, which had been my pre-baby size.
At the start of 2024, I was squeezing into size 16 clothes—definitely not my norm. But I'm excited to share that in the last two months, I've dropped two dress sizes and am now comfortably fitting into size 12 clothes. It's been a journey filled with small victories and big lessons, and today I want to share the best decision that helped me get there.
The Best Decision: A Break from Alcohol
The most transformative decision I've made this year was to take a 12-week break from alcohol. I initially aimed for 12 weeks, but six weeks in, I felt so good that I extended it to 12 months. This decision has had profound effects on my health, energy levels, and overall well-being.
Before this break, I enjoyed a glass of wine or two most nights while cooking. However, I realised that my decisions around food were often influenced by what wine I wanted to drink. By eliminating alcohol, I not only saved money but also gained incredible energy and mental clarity. If you've been thinking about taking a break from alcohol, I highly encourage you to try it—even if it's just for a week or a month. The benefits might surprise you!
Celebrating Small Wins and Focusing on Progress
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to celebrate small wins. I've shifted my focus from weight to dress size and overall health. Even though my weight hasn't changed much, my body has transformed. My clothes fit better, and I feel more confident and comfortable.
Quality sleep has been another significant benefit. I now enjoy six to nine hours of uninterrupted sleep each night, which has greatly improved my quality of life. For the past four months, I've also been free of hot flashes, which I attribute to the changes in my diet and lifestyle.
Embracing Mental Clarity and Intuition
Another remarkable change has been the increase in mental clarity and the elimination of brain fog. This clarity has allowed me to connect more deeply with my higher self and intuition, leading to better decisions and heightened awareness. I'm more attuned to people's intentions and can discern when to speak and when to stay silent. This has improved my relationships and made my life more joyful.
Reflecting on Personal Growth
Reflecting on the past six months, I've noticed significant improvements in my physical and mental health. My knees and feet no longer ache, and even my lower back, which has suffered from past injuries, feels much better. Along with regular weight training and cardio four times a week, swimming has become a regular part of my exercise routine, contributing to my overall well-being.
My increased mental clarity has also boosted my business. With sharper focus and heightened intuition, I'm able to work more efficiently and make decisions that align with my goals. Visualising my goals and rehearsing them mentally has become a powerful tool in my manifesting journey.
Taking Consistent, Aligned Action
The key takeaway I want to share with you is the importance of having a clear vision and taking consistent, aligned action. Visualise what you want to create, feel it deeply, and then take steps that match that vision. Celebrate every small step along the way, as each one brings you closer to your goal.
Remember, the joy is in the journey. Avoid focusing on the gaps between where you are and where you want to be. Instead, appreciate the progress you've made and stay committed to your vision.
